Whitewater kajak course for beginners (3-5 days)
Course (of instruction) in Kayak, Canadian and raft.
 Whitewater
paddling with all possible types of boats for example. kayak, canadian and raft is getting
more and more popular. But for an uninstructed person it can end in a tradgical
way. That
is why we offer courses in whitewaterpaddling,so that you safely can travel in one of the
most powerful elements of the nature.
Course in kayak, canadian and raft. Five days, for beginners and continuation, in
manoeuvring different streamcrafts. You could also just play in the stream with different
floating things or learn how to "read" the water, practise rescue actions,
medical attendance and maintenance with repair of equipment.
The basic part of the training begins at Åmsele in the 'kind" rapids of the river
Åman. And advance to the wild rapids of Vindelälven
DAY 1:
Bus from Umeå airport to Åmsele. lntroduction, paddling on flat water, safety techniques
and capsizing.
DAY 2:
Paddling forwards and backwards,sweep-strokes,drawstroke
DAY 3:
Theory of capsizing and swimming.
Practice technique in running water. Support-stroke and ferrygliding.
 DAY 4:
Theory of reading moving water practice duffekstroke and Eskimo-rolling.
DAY 5:
Paddling on Mårdsele rapids and practice on the slalom course.
DAY 6:
Paddling on the Bastu-rapids, Siksele-rapids or Troll-rapids (depends on the waterlevel).
DAY 7:
Practising your kajak and whitewater technique.

Special equipment for paddling is supplied by the enterprise:
Kayak, canadian and raft, paddle, buoyancyvest, helmet, spraycover and paddle jacket.
 Having grown up in the
Åmsele area. I am able to offer an intimate knowledge of the region and its many
attractions.
I am a former member of the Swedish whitewater paddling team and a former Swedish
champion. I qualified as a teacher at the University of Sport and Gymnastics in Stockholm.
I now want to share my skills and knowledge with anyone interested in the
outdoors.
All levels of ability welcome.
